[Just bought some samurai swords from Jakarta market for friends and family back home. I realized that this photo is an indirect result of the romanticisation/'cool'ification of violence which this poem critiques, so it seemed interesting to add.]
Critique of materialistic science and reliance on the senses, as well as of the 'coolness' and culture of celebro-entertainment/violence/social roles and norms.
3 28 06 Is This Rock n Roll?
The sky falls on my tongue
Like the pancake’s drum-
Flatland’s intoxicating hum
Putting us to sleep
But you still feel something weep
Amidst the ruin of amnesia deep
Dungeon of invisible woes
Ancient mysteries’ bony toes
Forever buried in your foes
What you cannot see, you cannot master
Skillful eyes driving disaster
Nature not being born of plaster
For one to mold
Dripping flesh not dare to hold
Holy Grail! We’ve gotten cold
Being of sound’s ambience
Necessitates an ambulance
If this is rock n’ roll
