Today I got an email from Bill Harris, creator of Holosync technology.
I have owned Holosync materials since two summers ago, and I can say that It has certainly made me more peaceful and possibly more intelligent. Since I have not meditated daily for this whole time, I cannot really say how much I benefit from the technology. Lately, I've been meditating with it roughly 2 to 3 hours a week and enjoy the process every time. However, I do not think I will really reap great benefits until I meditate more consistently and for a full hour, instead of the 30 minute sessions I have usually been following. I will certainly blog about any changes in my expierence with Holosync. It's important to note that I do not like its marketing tactics or the emails I get from Bill Harris concering "friends" of his in the super-successfull businessman/woman clique. I'm sure there are a lot of zaadzsters who use Holosync...what are your thoughts?
The email was about a gift Bill was giving to all of the Holosync owners entitled The World's Greatest Teachers Program. This program is a series of roughly one [I just randomly glanced at the clock for the first time in over 30 minutes and hooray, it's 11:11] hour discussions Bill Harris has with a variety of self-help gurus. I scrolled through the page and downloaded four of the 10 or so talks that seemed interesting. I listened to his talk on my iPod with Paul Scheele while I was cooking dinner (I had some delicious stir-fry with tofu and peanut butter). Paul Scheele is the co-founder of Learning Strategies. Here's what the homepage says:

Sounds lovely, doesn't it? I listened to their discussion and I was certainly intrigued. Most of the time was spent discussing PhotoReading, the ability to read 3 times faster than normal reading by implementing a specific reading strategy. This claim should seem skeptical to most people, but I was still curious. I checked out Paul Scheele's book on the subject at Amazon.com and got many different views on this "learning strategy." The most powerful thing I found was a link to a NASA study on PhotoReading. Apparently, NASA didn't think too highly of the program. Has anyone tried PhotoReading? Any success? Please let me know. Right now I am unsure and am trying to keep an open mind. I haven't tried it so I cannot judge it. Many of the people who gave Paul Scheele's book 1 star seemed to not have read it or not tried it for very long, but certainly not all of them.
Combining Holosync with any form of speedreading sounds like a good idea. I plan to listen to the other 3 talks in the near future, so if I get anything useful out of them I will be sure to share.
Please let me know if you have any insights on these products.
As always, much love and peace to the world.

Hi Peter
read your comments about holosync etc with interest. I don't have holosync (it seemd very expensive 4 my budget) but I do have Awakened Minds CDs, which I've been using 4 the last 10 months and which I find help me enter a more relaxed and expansive states whilst sitting (some of the time, not all of the time!) as for PhotoReading, I don't know but someone who does recommend it is Steve Pavlina on his blog - have you seen that?
take care
Stuart

The NASA report is misleading. It tests for reading at 25,000wpm. Something that we know is impossible. PhotoReading is not reading at 25,000wpm. Another problem with the “report” is that the researcher, is the trainee. The experienced PhotoReader refused to participate in part of the test. Scientifically the test is flawed because it only has the researcher as a subject. It isn’t validated with suitable numbers. NASA is obligated to publish the research because that’s what the researcher used the grant money they gave them for.
I think the best way to find out about PhotoReading is to explore it for yourself. If other people are qualified to research using themselves as test subjects why not you. The results that I’ve seen people achieve using PhotoReading is impressive. They save time, learn more and learn better. Grades are improved and more joy in reading without spending hours and hours trying to understand the book.
Best,
Alex

I've been using Holosync for 4 years. I don't want to spend 1 hour a day meditaing either. I put on the headphones and go to bed. I always wake up when the hour is over, put it away and go right back to sleep. I am also taking the Life Principles course. I had a little overwhelm 4 years ago but managed it pretty well. I have seen no results other than the CDs stop working for me so I move to next level. Just within the last month, I have had days of amazing clarity. I am seeing long held patterns in my beliefs or behavior and releasing them. Things do not bother me like they used to. I remember to use The Watcher more. Bill says when you get to a panic attack, dive into the emotion. He means, watch it intensely - analyze it. I have noticed it just dissipates. If I were consistent at keeping a journal, I think I would do a better job at knowing where I've been. Then I could compare it to where I am and see how far I've come.
I purchased Learning Strategies Ideal Weight Paraliminal. It's really cool and relaxes me in 20 minutes. I do not use it often enough to see if it makes a difference on weight loss.
When I was a kid there were always commercials on TV for “Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics”. It showed people scanning page after page of a book. It looked unreal. I had a cool English class in 10th grade which taught me a few speed reading basics. Basically I just read something as fast as I could and took a comprehension test. I suppose it made a difference. The test calculated your reading speed. I don't remember much about it. There have been times when I was reading over my husband's shoulder and he says I read much faster than he does. I have to wait for him to turn the page.
